Want to feel good? Get creative.
#FridaysForFutureSW According to the BBC Arts Great British Creativity Test which analyzed data from almost 50,000 people, participating in creative endeavors can help a person,
"Avoid stress, free up mind space and improve self-development, which helps build self-esteem."
In addition, they found that even participating in a singular creative event has positive effects on one's mood. It is important to note that the survey acknowledged the importance of social-based creative environments as a contributor to the results. A win for dance classes!
Many artists might feel like this analysis proves what feels like the obvious, but when we are constantly fighting a battle in our country to legitimize the arts, this becomes an important numbers-driven fact that we can use to back what we already know.
Maybe the next time when you have a friend or family member that is struggling, explain the benefits of being creative and help them find their artistic calling.
